The Vice-Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUS), Professor Kwasi Obiri Danso has commissioned the newly constructed School of Medical Sciences (SMS) Bush Canteen seven months after reconstruction work began in May 2018.
CONSTRUCTION on the SMS Canteen Upgrade became necessary, following years of expectations by business owners and plans by authorities to upgrade the facility to include a new restaurant, Icey Cup Shop and Upgrade of the popular ‘SMS fufu’ joint into a fufu restaurant.
The SMS Bush Canteen’ is one of the most popular food joints located at The School of Medical Sciences on the campus of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Known to be the hub of amazing delicacies for anyone who wants to try some local Ghanaian food, the SMS canteen which was once razed down by fire in 2016 has now been upgraded into an ultramodern restaurant.
The new expansion comes with spacious additional food joint and recreational facilities.
The facility which already had several food joints will now have a store, a Restaurant, Snack Shop, Waakye and Fried Plantain Joint, Kitchen for Bakery, special Fufu Restaurant, Kenkey Joint, stationary, photocopy shop.
Some other facilities also include Kit/Pounding area, Fruit sellers area, washrooms, varender, eatery among others.
The former SMS bush canteen was completely demolished for reconstruction work to begin in May 2018 and was expected to be completed soon before the start of the 2018/19 academic year according to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kwesi, but delayed a bit into December 2018.
