Some students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST have expressed worry over the sudden death of the chairman of the University council of KNUST and astute politician, Mr. Paul Victor Obeng.
The former chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (G.I.P.C.) was reported dead on Saturday, May 17 after he collapsed at a filling station at Spintex as a result of an asthma attack.
Mr. P.V was present at the just ended national economic forum at Senchi in Akosombo.
The mechanical engineer from KNUST (P.V Obeng) served as the chairman of the Committee of Secretaries under the Provisional National Defence Council regime (PNDC) from 1982–1992.
He served as Presidential Adviser on Governmental Affairs under the National Democratic Congress (NDC ) from 1992- 1997.
P.V. Obeng also served as Chairman of the Ghana Investment Promotion Council (G.I.P.C.) FROM 1992- 1997.
He was appointed by President John Evans Atta Mills as the chairman of the National Development Planning Council (NDPC) in 2010.
Mr. Paul victor Obeng, a former student of the Opoku Ware school, was the chief consultant and chairman of of OB Associates, a public and private sector consulting firm and chairman of Ghana Agro and food company (GAFCO)
P.V. was currently serving as director on the Board of Guinness Ghana Limited.
He was also appointed by President Mahama as a Senior Presidential Adviser at the Presidency and also chaired one of the working groups at the just ended Economic.
Mr. P.V Obeng until his death, was the chairman of the University Council of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).
He died at the age of 67.
