Birthday:
With the second term mandate coinciding with her birthday 🎂 today, 1st August, the calm and enigmatic Professor thanked God for showing her kindness.

She asked God for more grace to do well as she begins her second term in office as KNUST VC till she is done in the last quarter of 2026.

She assured the small gathering that she was committed to doing her best to continue to uplift the image of KNUST and to do well to all manner of persons who come before her in the discharge of her duties.

She promised to continue with her consensus seeking management style so that the University can churn out good policies and programs for the benefit of students and all others whose services are linked to KNUST.

Background:
Prof Rita Akosua Dickson, in the year 2020 won a hotly contested election to become Vice Chancellor of the famous Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

This feat, a very rare one, ensured that the Lady Professor became the first woman Vice Chancellor at KNUST.

Serving with humility and profuse grace, Prof Rita Dickson was to end her term today, 1st August, 2024.

However, since her age by God’s design would allow for her to seek an extension, she dutifully applied herself to fulfill all requirements.

Consequently, the Governing Council set up an evaluation committee to look into the application and subsequently approved same.

Despite setting the report aside by calling for a vote, Prof Rita Akosua Dickson by a 7:3 verdict, won the chance to serve a further two years whose commencement is today!
