Prince Kofi Mensah an NDC activist in the Techiman North of the Brong Ahafo Region popularly known as Kofi Portuphy Jnr. has been alleged not to be a true party man who can contest in the primaries.
Kofi Portuphy Junior is contesting the sitting Member of Parliament who doubles as the Deputy Minister of Education in charge of Tertiary, Hon Alex Kofi Kyeremeh in the Techiman North Constituency.
Reports gathered by rawgist.com has it that the constituency Chairman, Hon. Abuu said at the vetting committee in Sunyani the regional capital where the process took place that the man in question appeared in the party not long ago and therefore cannot contest.
The Chairman is reported to have said Prince Kofi Mensah must be an active member of the party for not less than four years.
The matter has been handed over to a committee to investigate and bring out a report come Wednesday 7th October 2015.
Prince Kofi Mensah a.k.a Kofi Portuphy talking to the press said he has been an active party member for more than five years so nothing stops him from contesting in the primaries.
He said he is waiting for the outcome of the committee before the next action from his quarters adding that he was a very good old friend of the Chairman before he even became the constituency chairman therefore cannot figure what exactly took place before the pronouncement at the vetting grounds.
He called on his followers and party faithful to remain resolute waiting for the outcome of the vetting committee to make sure the beauty of the game is not marred.
Rumors gathered by the reporter says some bigwigs in the constituency are trying all means to make sure the incumbent MP Hon. Alex Kofi Kyeremeh goes unopposed a situation that has led to tension in the Techiman North Constiuency of the NDC.
