Korle Bu CEO Opoku Ware Ampomah to end tenure on October 5

The Board of Directors of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) has announced that Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah’s four-year tenure as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will conclude on October 5, 2024.

In a letter dated October 3, 2024, the Board expressed its gratitude for Dr. Ampomah’s dedication and invaluable contributions to the hospital’s growth and development during his tenure.

The letter, signed by Dr. David Kansa, Chairman of the Board, stated, “On behalf of the Board, I extend our sincerest congratulations to you for your dedication and invaluable contributions to the growth and development of the hospital during your tenure.”

While awaiting further communication from the appointing authorities regarding next steps, the Board has appointed Dr. Frank Owusu Sekyere, Director of Medical Affairs, as Interim CEO, effective October 6, 2024.

This interim appointment is intended to ensure the smooth continuity of operations at the hospital and the well-being of its patients.

The Board also called for the cooperation and support of all stakeholders during this transition period, emphasizing, “We solicit the cooperation and support of all stakeholders during this transition.”
