Kumasi Asante Kotoko has started training on their newly refurbished pitch at Adako Jachie in the Ashanti region.
Staff and players of the team have expressed gratitude to Ghana’s biggest telco; MTN for refurbishing the pitch.
The pitch was overgrown and lacked basic necessities that qualify it as a soccer pitch; a situation that made their training regimens tedious.
MTN stepped in and helped by removing undesirable grass and re-grassing, leveling, sub-drainage works, irrigation works, pitch markings, goal posts, fencing and pitch furniture. Officials of MTN say all quality assurance and control protocols were observed during the refurbishment.
MTN handed over the refurbished pitch on 4th July, 2019. Already, the team says their training conditions have been greatly enhanced; a situation they expect to reflect in the overall performance of the team. They even beat their Burkinabe counterparts Rahimo FC in a friendly over the weekend after several days of training on the new pitch.
During the handing over ceremony held on the training pitch earlier this month, Chief Marketing Officer of MTN Ghana Noel Gampson stated that MTN as a sponsor of Kotoko is excited at the relationship and looks forward to greater things. He also emphasized that euphoria in football not enough to keep clubs going but there must be investments. He prayed that the refurbishment of the pitch will help improve the fortunes of the club.
Nana Opoku Agyemang; Ayeduasehene who represented Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II expressed gratitude to MTN for the great support. He charged MTN to top it up with washrooms.
The management of the team has praised the relationship between Asante Kotoko and MTN. George Amoako – CEO of Kumasi Asante Kotoko who accepted the keys to the training facility said the vision of making Adako Jachie the Kotoko village is on course with the refurbishment of the pitch.
Like Oliver Twist he asked for more from MTN and other organizations and stated that the team has never regretted her partnership with MTN.
He assured that the facility will be kept in good condition.
