The Ashanti regional director of communications for the New Patriotic party (NPP), Kusi Kyei is aggrieved by comments by the Former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister Hon. Joseph Yammin, that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should elect a new presidential candidate to replace Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo in the 2016 general polls.
Hon Yammin has noted that the Electoral commission disqualified about 20 aspirants during the just ended district level elections. According to him the bases for their disqualification was that their ages were 70 and above and noted that such people at that age are not required to pay tax according to the constitution of Ghana.
This he noted ‘‘if taken into consideration by the EC in terms of the presidential and parliamentary elections, then Nana Addo wil be affected since he is filing for a position that requires him to pay tax to the country which does not legally correspond to his age’’.
However, speaking to Royal fm’s morning show host Sir Richmond Antwi Boasiako,Kusi kyei noted that he did not expect to hear such comment from such a personality and considered it ‘‘ not sensible such a comment’’.
He further noted that such comment will come from the NDC since the party is confused in terms of administrating the country.
