The Kwadwo Baah Agyemang Community Gala has officially been launched at an event at Dollar Days Inn in Agogo.
The event kicks off on the 24th to 29th December, 2019.
However, on the 1st of January, 2020 a select team from the tournament will play against Dreams FC, a Ghana premier league side.
The venue for this special event is fixed at Russia Park, Agogo.
The games will involve 12 football teams from various communities in the Asante Akyem North District.
These include; Domeabra FC, Juansa FC, Amantenaman Select side, Hwidiem FC, Agogo Newtown FC, Agogo Sukuumu FC, Agogo Ahenebronum select side, Obuasi select side, Gyedim select side, Bontoduase Select Side, Zongo FC and Russia FC.
BACKGROUND:
This Community gala is a project targeted at developing and promoting young football talents in Asante Akyem North and would also allow local fans to experience the fun aspect of the game during this yuletide.
The Ghana Football association (GFA) president and other dignitaries at the helm of football affairs in this country will be in attendance.
LAUNCH:
At a brief but, colourful launching event, the rules and regulations for the tournament were spelt out and each of the 12 teams was presented with customized set of Jerseys, football and GHc 200 appearance fee.
Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, the main sponsor for the tournament unveiled a giant trophy for the gala and indicated that the winning team will keep the trophy. Additionally, gold medals and a cash prize of £200.00 will be received by the winner.
The runner up will earn silver medals and £100.00. Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang further stated that in the event of a tied score after regulation time, penalty shoot-out will be used to determine which team is awarded victory.
The rational for this decision, Hon. Kwadwo Baah Agyemang says is to help the players acquire kicking skills and accuracy which will intend improve their penalty kicking performance.
In terms of content, quality, organization, packages and competitiveness, this gala is the first of its kind in Asante Akyem North.
