Kwaw Kese is doing well in prison – Hammer reveals

sark and hammerRenowned music producer Edward Nana Poku, popularly known as Hammer of the Last Two and Ghana’s multiple award winning rapper Sarkodie and have visited rapper Kwaw Kese.

The two were at the Kumasi Central Prison Tuesday to see Kwaw Kese who is kept on remand pending trial for narcotics-related offences.

The controversial rapper, who was arrested by the police in Kumasi, for allegedly smoking cannabis in public was remanded into prison after making an appearance in court Monday.

He was whisked away into a police van and sent to the Kumasi Central Prison which will serve as his new home for two weeks until he returns to court on December 8.

The court, presided over by Judge William Boampong remanded him to reappear on December 8 after prosecutors argued that they were still investigating the matter.

Hammer shared a photo of himself, Sarkodie and a Prisons officer shortly after the visit on microblogging site, Twitter. He attached the caption: “At least he’s lookin good. See u on the 8th starboy @sarkodie.”

Speaking in an interview with Myjoyonline.com after the visit, Hammer said Kwaw Kese is doing well and he staying upbeat.

“He is ok, the guards are treating him very well. He is fine, he was very calm. I explained to him what is going on on social media, the campaign for his relase,” the producer, who is also the CEO of Last Two Music Group said.

He said, Kwaw Kese is upbeat and he is urging his fans and Ghanaians to remain calm and positive because “his lawyers are in control.”

According to Hammer, he together with Sarkodie, spent about 25 minutes with Kwaw Kese. “His face lit up when he saw us,” he added.

There is currently a social media campaign, #FreeKwawKese calling for the controversial rapper’s release. The campaign is being spearheaded by some renowned personalities in Ghana’s entertainment industry including Hammer and Sarkodie.
