The managing editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt has expressed his support for the recent increase in transport fares. The increment in 2016 which took effect on February 1 has attracted attention of most Ghanaians.
Speaking on Kookrokoo on peace FM on Tuesday, Mr. Kwesi Pratt stated that he agrees with the drivers for increasing the fares since there have been increases in petroleum products in the country which makes it very difficult for them to meet their targets.
According to him, Ghanaians should be worried about restructuring of the economy which is the basis of the issue. He outlined drastic depreciation of the cedi from 1983 to date and selling about 98% of Ghana’s natural resources to foreign countries as the major factors that should be looked at. He says the recent problems associated with the economy can be attributed to these factors.
