Individuals and Corporate bodies have been called upon to contribute towards the lot of retired Ghanaian soldiers.

The call was made by Ashanti regional Minister Hon. Samuel Sarpong during the inauguration of the Retired Soldiers Club Friday in Kumasi.

The Regional Minister who was full of praises for the Ghana Armed Forces lamented that though government is extremely committed to the welfare of retired soldiers, she couldn’t do it all alone.

“..it is significant to note that, government is committed to ensuring the wellbeing of all retired public servants and the retired soldiers are not an exception. The interest of our veterans is of utmost priority and government would explore workable avenues to improve the life of our retired soldiers. Government however, cannot do it all alone. It is in this vein that I urge both individuals and corporate organizations to contribute in improving the conditions of our old soldiers.”

Hon. Samuel Sarpong urged the present generation of soldiers to tap into the “invaluable experience of our old soldiers so as to enable them perform their duties effectively as required.”

He also encouraged the nation to utilize their intelligence gathering and analytical skills to solve nagging national security issues.
