Legal Practitioner Egbert Faibille Jnr has questioned President John Mahama’s sense of judgment in appointing Anita De-Soso as Deputy National Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).
Speaking on Peace FMs morning show Friday, Mr. Faibille said appointing Anita De – Soso for that particular position indicates, “the president has a problem.”
According to him the sense of reasoning that went into appointing her to that position is the same being used to run the country, and that is why the country is in its current worsening economic state.
Anita De – Soso, who is also the National Women’s Organiser of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), in a petition to the Chief of Staff, accused her boss Kofi Portuphy of “running a one-man show.” She also claimed that since her appointment in February 2014, she has not received her “basic salary.”
She demanded for the “immediate composition of the NADMO governing Board to ensure a harmonious working relationship.”
Contradicting assertions made by Anita, Mr. Kofi Portuphy described the claims as “frivolous, empty allegations meant to get me out of office” adding that she “is not qualified for her job.”
Speaking on Asempa FMs ‘Ekosii Sen’ Thursday, Mr. Porturphy said apart from “distributing relief items” Anita De – Soso has no knowledge or expertise in disaster management. According to Mr. Porturphy, as deputy in charge of special duties, Anita has not done any work for which she should be paid.
However, Mr. Faibille said Kofi Portuphy should rather resign from his job and tell the president, “he does not and will not accept people who do not qualify to work with him.”
He said positions at NADMO should not be given to party members and sympathisers but to people who have expertise in managing disaster issues because, “issues of disaster do not only affect a party but the country as a whole.”
He said the Public Services Commission and not the NDC should undertake appointment of people to such positions; otherwise the president should have appointed someone from the Fire Service or the Police Service.
“Anita De – Soso is unqualified and incompetent to manage it,” he added.
