President John Dramani Mahama on Friday said Ghana and Turkey were leveraging their relations from diplomacy to trade and commerce that would have mutual benefits.
He said apart from leveraging their trade relations from scratch to about $500 million now, Turkey had been instrumental in the provision of roads, potable water and the construction of the second national theatre in Kumasi.
President Mahama said this when Dr Senturk Uzun, Turkish Ambassador to Ghana called on him at the Flagstaff House, Kanda.
The Ambassador was at the Presidency to inform him about his recall to his native country after spending 11 months of duty tour in the country.
President Mahama said since the re-opening of the Turkish Embassy in Ghana in 2010 and that of Ghana in 2013, private sector businesses had grown up to over 500.
Dr Uzun said his duty tour in Ghana had given him the opportunity to have good perspectives on Africa and that would help him to work cordially with Africans everywhere.
He gave the assurance that his country would work hard to ensure the signing of free trade agreements that would increase trade relations for the two countries in the coming years.
