Ghana has been facing challenges in the power sector in the last three years.
Last Tuesday the President inspected three power plants in the Tema power enclave and expressed confidence in the nation’s future and appealed to Ghanaians to continue to be patient as the government continues to make efforts to provide a lasting solution to the energy problems.
The three plants were the Sunon Asogli Power Plant, the Tema Cenit Thermal Plant and the Kpone Thermal Power Plant (KTPP).
In a statement on Thursday morning, the Minister of Communications, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, who was standing in as spokesperson for the President in the wake of the exit of Ben Dotse Malor, called for patience in the face of the difficulties.
“Relief is on the way. Government acknowledges and shares in your pain. Short and medium term measures being implemented will ensure that.”
“The Egyptians that we see today we shall see them no more – as the book of Exodus puts it,” the statement said
Last Tuesday, President Mahama said he understood the challenges and frustrations of Ghanaians in the face of the current electricity load shedding.
“But I will ask Ghanaians to continue to be patient. The minister and his team are doing everything possible to try to bring on stream as much generation as possible. I know some agreements have been signed to bring in emergency power in a couple of months to ease the situation,” he said.
