The Techiman Circuit Court has remanded a 20 year-old farmer, Yaw Gyan into prison custody for allegedly raping a 74 year-old trader.
The prosecution told the court that on 18th July, 2013, around 5:30 pm, the victim (a 74 year-old woman) was who was returning to Maampehia from Techiman after a fruitful trade at the Techiman Central Market met the accused also from his farm.
The accused asked the complainant to surrender so he could have sex with her.
All attempts by the complainant to avert the situation proved futile.
20 year-old Yaw Gyan therefore forcibly had sex with the 74 year-old complainant after which he went into hiding.
He was however arrested on 12th January this year for a theft case by the Wenchi Police .
The accused was arraigned before court and has been remanded into prison custody to reappear before court on 20th January.
