Management of KATH Tours Directorates To Encourage Staff
The entire membership of the Management at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital 🏥 (KATH) have visited some directorates at the facility to interact with staff, encourage them and also ascertain their operational challenges for redress.
The CEO and team engaged the staff on their operational challenges and suggested ways that can enhance the quality of care for patients.
Places visited were the Accident and Emergency Centre, Radiology Directorate, Psychiatry Unit, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, Mother Baby Unit and the Maternity Unit.
Details:
Prof. Otchere Addai-Mensah, CEO of KATH in an interview said that there is management meeting at the hospital every Tuesday from 10 a.m. and 2 :00 p.m.
He, however, noted that on Tuesday they decided to curtail the meeting and take a grand tour of the hospital so that they could engage staff at their operational areas to solidarize with them.
The CEO used the opportunity to commend them for their hard work and sacrifices.
History:
Prof Addai-Mensah said Tuesday’s tour of the directorates was not novel but has been periodic since his tenure as CEO.
He stated that he had been going with on these rounds with the Medical Director, Director of Nursing and Director of Pharmacy who have direct supervision of the clinical directorates.
“The rounds we did today was not novel but the difference is that this time all the management members who supervise the directorates were present with their technical and support teams and we plan to do more of such. I must add that since management was not able to do all the directorates today we would subsequently visit the wards and other sections such as the Family Medicine Directorate, Eye, Ear, Nose and Throat Directorates, the Eye Center and Physiotherapy Centre to ascertain for ourselves what goes on there”, Prof Addai-Mensah stressed.
Observations:
The CEO said he was happy that despite the unannounced nature of the rounds, the staff including the doctors and nurses as well as their heads of directorates were on duty and ready to welcome them.
He said it was heartwarming that the staff showed excitement during the visits with some taking advantage of same to take pictures with management members.
“I was also happy seeing the renovations that we had done at the Psychiatry and Main theatres and i know they will soon move in and use same to serve our clients at optimum levels”.
The CEO commended the Management members for not resisting these routine visits even though some are old, adding that this shows the kind of commitment they have to ensure KATH delivers the best of care to patients and visitors.
