Ghana Agriculture News- Some Kuapa kokoo farmers have been taken through intensive financial literacy training to enable them inculcate business principles into their agriculture.
The two weeks programme took them through such subjects as Planning, budgeting, cash flow management, investments, bargaining, records keeping amongst other business related topics.
The training which took place at the True Vine Hotel was sponsored by MasterCard Foundation and Root Capital.
The forty farmers who were trained are expected to return to their societies and impart their colleagues with the knowledge gained.
Participants were excited about the training and the prospects it holds for their finances but were at the same time remorseful that they had been casual about their farming activities.
Mr. Samson Kobina; a participant told rawgist.com’s Bernard Buachi that he had learnt how to forecast activities for his farm in order to be timely. He also adds that he has gained a better insight into the various types of investments available.
Root Capital lends to farmers and farmer organizations and also provides business advisory services. The internationally recognized organization is in partnership with Kuapa Kokoo to help better the lot the farmers.
A manager at Root Capital: Francis Opoku-Mensah reveals that the farmers are technically competent as far as their farming activities are concerned and the training will build the capacity of the farmers to source funding and also run their farms profitably.
