The Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah is begging residents in the region over the poor road network in the area following their plans to demonstrate.
For some time now, many have described roads in the region as the poorest among the rest in the country ranking them number one in terms of their deplorable nature.
Mynewsgh.com has gathered that there is an ongoing revolution by residents to force authorities to fix the deplorable roads which they say is hampering economic activities in the area and fertile for criminals.
Speaking on Kumasi-based Hello Fm; the minister admitted that, indeed the region is suffering from bad road network and promised government is committed to rebuilding them within the shortest possible time but is unable to give a specific time frame.
“I will plead with everyone in the region concerning the current state of our roads. People are complaining about our roads particularly because the rains have really shown us how bad they are. It’s unfortunate”. He said.
He, however, accepted the fact that, the situation is not only peculiar to the regional capital or any special geographical area.
“There are lots of bad roads in the region. I don’t want to concentrate on only one area”. He said.
“We already knew our roads were bad, but God so being good, the rains have really shown us the reality”. He added
The minister further stated that the situation is even an opportunity for city managers to design plans to solve the situation, calling on all stakeholders and individual who have the capacity to help government for support.
