Ghana News–Customers and subscribers of MTN can now have access to personal or family insurance policy just by following certain prompts on their handsets.
The insurance facility, a collaborative effort between MTN and Met-life Insurance Company and termed ‘Recharge with Care Service’ is to ensure that subscribers have some level of cushion in the event of sickness or death.
With a monthly deduction of 2cedis, subscribers of the service, popularly called aYo can have access to funds when they are indisposed at the hospital or a substantial amount to cater for funeral expenses the customer or contributor may have been involved.
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper after the official launch of the policy in Kumasi last Thursday, Mr Charles Osei-Akoto, Head, Technical Services, MTN- Northern Business District said customers who apply to be on the platform will have three options to choose from the insurance package that the platform offers including having some funds to cater for admissions and medical care.

Giving details, Mr Akoto said the Recharge with care service is to enable subscribers get care for themselves and their partners.
The two cedis premium customers pay at the end every month is a comprehensive package which allows you to select the kind of insurance you want to have.
A package of GHC 3000.00 is provided on the platform as life cover for subscribers, whilst an amount of 50cedis is given to subscribers when they notify the provider that they have been admitted at the hospital.
Mr Akoto charged the public, especially market women and traders to subscribe to the insurance service so as to be able to access the soft form of insurance on their handsets.

Head of Sales at Met-Life Company, Mr Emmanuel Gyim urged MTN subscribers to enroll on the insurance platform.
The policy, he noted makes it easy to access claims and funds at needful times and emergency moments.
Getting onto the aYo platform, Mr Gyim intimated is less cumbersome and urged subscribers of MTN to access the insurance policy.
The service, he revealed can be accessed at every MTN office or vending center in the country.
