MTN provides start-up materials after training Ampabame youth in soap making

Ghana Economic Empowerment -MTN and NBSSI have set up over 40 youth of Ampabame in the Ashanti region with training and materials for soap making.

The participants were taken through one week intensive training after which they have been given certificates by the National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI).

MTN, the entity that financed the training also Wednesday donated materials to the soap makers who have formed themselves into groups to enable them commence business.

Mr. Stephen Asare, MTN’s Northern Business District manager for Mobile Money tells rawgist.com the cost of the training and materials run into several thousands of cedis. He explained that the gesture was not exclusive to the Ashanti region but also the Brong Ahafo, and three Northern regions.

He says a need analysis will be done to decide what the next step should be for these soap makers.

He prayed that the participants will carry on with the seriousness they have exhibited so far in order to free themselves from unemployment and poverty.

The participants, mostly women, were excited and promised to make their training useful to themselves and their families. One of them; Angelina Dufie proudly displayed well packaged liquid soap she had prepared on her own and revealed that she had already started earning money from her training.

Ashanti regional Director of the NBSSI; Manu Bashir promised to continuously monitor them and give them entrepreneurial training to enable them succeed.
