The Manager of the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre; Modesto Ayiwole has saluted telecommunications giant MTN for doing what many others have refused to do for the rehab.
Modesto Ayiwole who received a fully furnished computer laboratory from MTN was close to tears when he stated that “You are the only entity that has shown faith in us. You have shown us that you believe our kind also need to acquaint ourselves with computers. We’ve sent several proposals to several companies but they only ask me: what do you think your kind of children can do with computers? Are you not sure you need it for yourself and your family?“
MTN, as part of its 21 days of staff voluntarism and community service called Y’ello Care, Tuesday painted the newly designated computer lab and fitted it with furniture and 10 desktop computers which will be maintained by MTN for some time.
Corporate Services Adviser for MTN; Charity Darko tells rawgist.com MTN will continue to pay close attention to the needs of the rehabilitation centre and continue to help in anyway they can.
The Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre which caters for deaf, dumb, blind, the physically disabled and those with mental disorders lack learning materials, tools and equipment and need assistance urgently.
Trade areas taught at the Centre include shoe making and leather works, hairdressing, tailoring and dressmaking and rural crafts.
Currently there are 75 children-30 girls and 45 boys learning various trades at the Centre.
The ages of inmates at the centre range from 15 to 40 years.
Modesto Ayiwole wants Corporate Ghana as well as well meaning individuals to emulate the example of MTN and come to the aid of the centre to enable it continue its functions smoothly.
