Officials of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in Asokwa Saturday morning led a clean up exercise at Kaase, a community in the Asokwa Municipality.
The exercise which spanned five hours had over 100 participants from NADMO as well as persons from the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), the Asokwa Municipal Assembly and residents taking part.
Also involved in the clean up were the Chief Executive of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Lawyer Justin Kodua Frimpong and Asokwa Director of NADMO, Eric Nana Akosah Addai.
Desilting the gutters with some speed and energy, the participants also swept the streets of Kaase including the Chief’s Palace.
COMMITMENT:
Addressing the participants after the exercise, Eric Nana Akosah said NADMO was committed to the cleanliness of the Asokwa Municipality.
He said NADMO was not only set up to manage disaster but to prevent same from happening.
This, he noted included the prevention of diseases which largely emanates from the environment.
He promised the sustenance of the exercise in other communities in Asokwa so as to rid the community of filth and garbage.
YEA BOSS:
Addressing the crowd after physically participating in the desilting exercise, Justin Koduah, YEA Boss said he was impressed about the NADMO cause.
He noted if same was replicated across the country it would help residents to become aware about the need to keep their surroundings clean so as to prevent disease outbreak and disasters.
NPP VICE CHAIRMAN:
1st Vice-Chairman for Asokwa NPP, Edmund Kyei on his part commended NADMO for the initiative and thanked residents for participating in the exercise.
He rallied NPP members to join such clean up exercises to ensure the communities in Asokwa remain clean at all times.
