The Ashanti regional office of the National Disaster Management Organisation, NADMO has advised families to renovate family houses as the rains intensify.
Ashanti regional NADMO Coordinator, Mr. Aninkora Sie laments to rawgist.com that many young people desert family houses as their standard of living improves leaving the structures in deplorable condition.
Two people within the Atwima Nwabiagya district have been left dead after their bedroom caved in on them. They say they are yet to receive assistance from NADMO.
The regional NADMO coordinator admits his outfit is not adequately resourced and is hence focused on preventing disasters through education and early warnings.
Despite his outfit’s limited resources, Mr. Sie emphasised NADMO Ashanti’s readiness to come to the aid of victims of disasters especially during the rainy season.
