The National Association of Graduate Teachers says its demonstration scheduled for Thursday 15th January has been postponed.
The decision was made today after the Ghana police service told NAGRAT executives during a meeting that they could not provide them the needed police protection on the chosen date for the demonstration.
Last Week NAGRAT warned of an intended demonstration and nationwide strike action this week if government does not address its grievances.
The association has raised issues with government concerning non-payment of the 2011-2012 increment credit arrears, poor handling of the second Tier pension Scheme, ongoing staff rationalization and non-payment of transfer grants among others which it says government has failed to address.
Speaking to Live news the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of NAGRAT Rene Senyo Kwamikorkor said although the demonstration would not come off as scheduled the association would begin its nationwide strike action on Friday the 16th of May.
