Former Deputy Ashanti regional Minister; Joseph Yammin says members of the NPP are jubilating over the predicament of the muntie 3 because the programme (Pampaso) always sort to expose their party’s flagbearer- Nana Akufo Addo.
Joseph Yammin who was speaking on Accra-based Atinka FM Monday challenged Nana Akufo Addo to come out and speak on the incarceration of the Muntie FM presenter and panelists by the Supreme Court.
“Until Nana Addo is heard on the incarceration of the Muntie trio, I will never believe he was amongst those who fought for freedom of speech”, Yammin opined.
He explains that he would be happy to hear Nana Addo; one who beats his chest on impeccable human rights records, come out and comment on the ongoing situation involving the incarcerated three, the Supreme Court and the President.
He pointed to his co-panelist Kwasi Pratt Jnr. who despite his involvement in the struggle for free speech together with Kwaku Baako and others, have themselves been victims of free speech. ” Though these people have been victims of free speech in this country, I have heard them condemn the 4 months sentence handed down to the 3 young men and they indeed stand by what they fought for”, Yammin said.
“It’s now time to hear from the “horses own mouth” as far as this judgment is concerned. We need to know if he is happy with the judgment”, he demanded, questioning how hypocritical the NPP could be considering that they pled for Sir John when he made similar statements.
Already, members of the ruling NDC have been mounting pressure on the President to grant the three a pardon. The President has so far been silent on the whole matter.
