Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, Member of Parliament for Manhyia South and Ghana’s Education Minister on Wednesday morning donated 200 bags of cement to Asantehene’s Mawerehene to aid in the construction of museum by the latter.
The museum when completed would contain some archival documents section as well as sections that would have items and brochures detailing the activities of the Mawere division of the Asante Kingdom.
Presenting the bags of cement on behalf of the Minister, Nana Kodie Abebrese, a representative from the MP’s office said the project was a laudable one.
He noted that the museum would serve as an avenue of education as well as a place where one could visit to trace historical data and information.
“We are here to present these two hundred bags of cement on behalf of Dr Napo and to make a firm pledge of support for this project”, the MP’s rep posited.
He rallied other Asantes and individuals who believe in the project to support in same way so that they could contribute in preserving the historical records of Asanteman.

Receiving the cement on behalf of the Mawerehene, Baafuo Ossei Hyeaman Brantuo IV, the Chief Linguist, Yamoah Gyamfi thanked the Minister for the cement.
He noted that the gesture was encouraging and would enable them complete the museum which was at the roofing level at a faster pace.
The Linguist mentioned the importance of preserving culture and the history of the Mawere division as well as Asante.
According to him, the museum would present the people with the opportunity to learn at first hand what necessitated the creation of the Mawere division, a defence wing of the Manhyia Palace and what it represents.
“We are grateful to Dr Napo for this gesture and we know this would encourage us to work at a faster pace so as to get the project in place on time “, Okyeame Gyamfi intimated.
