Ghana News–The Education Minister and Member of Parliament for Manhyia-South, Dr Matthew Opoku-Prempeh has honored the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II by leading a clean-up exercise where areas within the Manhyia community were tidied.
Speaking at the end of the three (3) hour rigorous exercise, Dr Opoku-Prempeh, a royal and a strict adherer to customs and traditions said the best present NPP members in Manhyia can give to the all conquering King on his 19th year anniversary is to make his community clean.
Otumfuo, the Education Minister noted cherishes the art of keeping the environment clean at all times, adding this act the NPP members embarked on will hugely please the King.
Having reigned successfully for 19 years, Dr Opoku-Prempeh applauded the King for bringing transparency and integrity to the administration of the Kingdom.
‘’We could not have done anything to celebrate our King this day except to use the holiday to clean the Palace and the entire Manhyia community’’, Dr Napo noted.
TEACHER WELFARE:
On the welfare of Ghanaian teachers, the Education Minister reiterated his determination to seek better working conditions for the Ghanaian teacher.
These teachers, Dr Opoku-Prempeh maintained when well motivated will ensure they teach well in our schools and campuses.
The Free Senior High School Education Policy, the Minister noted has been possible with the support of the Ghanaian teacher.
Dr Opoku-Prempeh indicated his resolve to fight for more incentives for the Ghanaian teacher to ensure together with parents they help Ghanaian students to record good grades in school.
‘’The welfare of the Ghanaian teacher is my priority because a motivated teacher is part of the reasons students will study well’’, Dr Napo reiterated.
AWARD:
Speaking on his recent award as the best performing Minister, Dr Prempeh said it was a humbling experience.
The award, he noted will spur the education ministry on to strive to achieve excellence in the roll out of the free SHS education policy and other initiatives.
‘’It was a humbling experience to receive such an award and this undoubtedly will spur us on to work even harder to achieve excellent results in all that we do’’, Dr Opoku Prempeh passionately stressed.
