The strong support received by some contestants at the New Patriotic Party’s Regional Delegates conference some weeks ago seem to have made the leadership of the party uncomfortable as they have sounded strict caution to the rank and file of the party about open show of support to any aspirant.
Party leadership on Friday released a statement cautioning members of the party against media communication “against the party or its officers with the intent to cause public disaffection for the party or its officers”.
The statement also stated that no aspirant shall display his/her banners, memorabilia or “soloku” drummers in any form as a show of support at the party’s National Annual Delegates Conference to be held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi from 18th-20th December, 2021.
Meanwhile, the woes of the incumbent Ashanti regional chairman of the party; Bernard Antwi Boasiako continue to deepen as some respected former Members of Parliament and party sympathizers call for new leadership ahead of the regional primaries in 2022.
