The Presidency is urging Ghanaians not to view the upcoming National Economic Forum slated for next week as a partisan event.
The Presidential Spokesperson, Ben Dotse Marlor, clarified that “this is a non-partisan event; it’s a multi-stakeholder event that cuts across many sections of our Ghanaian society.”
He mentioned that preparations are far advanced for the four-day forum which scheduled to be take place in Akosombo.
Briefing the media at the Flagstaff House in Accra, Mr Marlor indicated the Forum will be opened by the President.
In attendance will be Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, members of Ghana’s Economic Management Team, former Finance Ministers, representatives of political parties, academia and various interest groups.
They will discuss the way forward for the Ghanaian Economy and how to overcome current challenges.
Mr Dotse Marlor told the media that the national forum is to open an avenue for “everyone who cares deeply about Ghana’s economy as a way of improving the lives of the millions of our people.”
He said the Presidency is optimistic about the outcome of the forum and further highlighted some of the key areas to engage the attention of participants.
“We are making sure that at the end of the forum, certain key implementable actions are arrived at to be applied immediately.”
The Presidential spokesperson also mentioned that six thematic areas will be considered.
They include; the restoration of macro-economic stability to the economy, issues relating to Ghana’s financial market, the long term economic growth of Ghana and unlocking of the potential for long-term development.
