The national organizer of the governing National Democratic congress (NDC), Kofi Adams has hit hard at the flag bearer and running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo and Dr. Mahmud Bawumia saying they do not have enough information on issues they complain about.
He says measures have been put in place to address what Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia have been promising Ghanaians.
He says Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia in recent days have been promising cocoa farmers in the western region they would subsidize the cost of fertilizer when voted into power whereas the NDC government already supplies fertilizers for free. According to him, this indicates clear ignorance on the part of the NPP flagbearer and his running mate.
Addressing TEIN members at KNUST over the weekend, he said the NPP government has done very little in addressing challenges facing cocoa farmers adding that the NPP did not initiate any replanting process during their tenure. In his address, he said as part of the NDC’s efforts to boost cocoa production, they have supplied 50 million seedlings and are ready to provide 60 million seedlings this year.
Speaking on Nana Addo’s promise to restore teacher trainee allowance, Kofi Adams is questioning the source of that money to be used since Nana Addo has promised not to borrow.
“Where is Nana Addo going to get the money to repay teacher trainee allowance since he says he is not going to borrow? He is just promising to get power” , he stated.
He lauded government’s decision to scrap the allowances. He says the new arrangement has helped increase enrollment from 9000 to 17000 giving other people who otherwise would not have gotten the opportunity the chance to attend.
