Mr Kwasi Oppong-Ababio, the Sunyani Municipal Chief Executive, has appealed to financial institutions to desist from duping their customers after enticing them with “juicy” packages.
Mr Oppong-Ababio made the appeal at the launchof the Nestad Ghana Project in Sunyani.
Nestad Ghana, a member of the Ghana Association of Financial Non-Governmental Organisations, is embarking on a three-year pilot project in the Brong-Ahafo Region from September 1, to establish an indigenous Ghanaian bank with its roots in the Region.
He cautioned the public to be cautious about their transactions with new financial Institutions since most customers are now losing interest in their operations and were saving their monies at home.
Mr Yaw Arhin, Assistant Managing Director of Nestad Ghana, said customers who would qualify for loans would be taken through business and financial training for six weeks after which they would be divided into groups with a leader and their operations monitored.
He said loans would be disbursed without collateral and payment done daily though “susu”.
