NGO PARTNERS WITH ASOKWA ASSEMBLY TO GIVE MOTHERS, WIDOWS SUPPORT

Y3y3 Maa, a non-governmental organization whose focus is on mothers and widows on 9th May gave mothers in Asokwa a treat including a project to support their upkeep.
The NGO, which is headed by Esther Assana in collaboration with the Asokwa Municipal Assembly at the event unveiled a new project they have termed ‘’Bringing Back Women To Light by Love’’.
Speaking to this reporter, Madam Assana said the project has been tailored to offer counseling and clinical services to older women and widows.
She stressed that many women go through a lot of trauma and psychological challenges when ageing and hence the need to provide assistance to make them live comfortably.

Madam Assana said the project would have clinical psychologists visit mothers who are in Asokwa to know the challenges they face as they grow older.
He noted special counseling would be given to old women who have become bitter by experiences they may have had at the hands of their in-laws and children.
Many women, madam Asana said at one point or another suffer the trauma of being called bad mothers or witches.
This negative tag and name calling, she stated go on to make the old women bitter and restless with some becoming depressed in life.

Madam Patricia Appiagyei, Member of Parliament for Asokwa was commended by the group for being a role model to women and the female folk in Asokwa and in Ghana as a whole.
Similar recognition were given to Mrs Elizabeth Agyemang, former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Chief Akwannuasah Gyimah,MCE for Asokwa as well as Rev Mrs Rebecca Assana of the Mount Sinai Methodist Church and Vida Antwi, a women development person.
Madam Assana said her group was very appreciative of the awardees for specific and respective roles they had played in women empowerment as well as support to many women focused NGOs like Y3Y3 Maa.
