The people of Anyinofi say they will never again participate in any election until the government resolves the numerous challenges making life unbearable for them.
The chief of Anyinofi near Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram-Plains district of the Ashanti Region Nana Kwaku Amponsaten Kakabo Ababio II tells rawgist.com he will soon make it very difficult for any one from the district to collect taxes in his town adding that they cannot pay taxes and still suffer as if they are not Ghanaians.
He says past and present governments have failed the people of the area.
Electricity, clean water and health workers to man health facilities in the area are among the basic necessities which are non-existent in the area.
He also complained about the bad road network which he says is making it very difficult for farmers in the area to transport their produce to the big market centres. The bad road network has limited them to selling at Atebubu instead of the Ashanti region where they do brisk business.
He says workers refuse transfers to the place due to the nature of the roads there, and adds that though the community has built a police quarters, there are no policemen to occupy the rooms.
Nana Ababio blamed the DCE, Hon. Fuseini Donkoh and the MP for the woes of the people of Anyinofiman. He says they were abandoned immediately after the 2012 elections.
He threatened that his subjects numbering about 6,000 would boycott the 2016 Parliamentary and Presidential elections to register their grievances.
Anyinofi town lies between the Brong Ahafo and the Ashanti Regions in the Afram-Plains of Ghana and has no major road that links to Kumawu the nearest town so the people there have nothing to do than to resort to Atebubu. From Anyinifi town to Atebubu is about 46 kilometres.
