A former ambassador to the United Kingdom (UK) Daniel Ohene Agyekum says he became an active member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on his own accord after receiving an invite from former President Flt. Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings who was then head of state to become a government functionary.
The former Eastern Regional Secretary [Minister] stated that he was apolitical and it was President Rawlings who at the time extended him an invite to become part of the Provisional National Defense Council (PNDC) administration.
“At that time I had no interest dabbling in active politics as a civil servant. It was President Rawlings who saw the good things in me and appointed me to the Eastern Region as Secretary to government business in the PNDC regime”.
The former Ambassador to the UK also revealed that having worked with President Rawlings for a while, he had another opportunity to become Ashanti Regional Minster under this Forth Republic.
The NDC guru made these revelations during a radio interview on Fox FM in Kumasi calling on party executives to resolve their differences and work towards a resounding victory for the NDC in election 2016.
