Ghana Politics NewsThe former Deputy Ashanti Regional Minister in the erstwhile John Mahama administration has called on the NPP government to be proactive in the handling of security issues in the country.
There was some confusion at Asawasi in the Asokore Mampong Municipality when the former president John Dramani Mahama attended a funeral a few days ago.
Reports say it took the intervention of the residents and 4 military men to calm down the situation.
Joseph Yammin in an interview with Abusua Fm’s Osei Kwadwo revealed that security situation at the premises was very poor saying NPP government lacks knowledge about security issues.
According to Joseph Yammin, government must be proactive about security issues to ensure that stability and enviable freedom being enjoyed by Ghanaians is not jeopardized.
“Former Presidents Kufour, Mahama and President Nana Addo and Vice President Bawumia were supposed to attend the funeral but there was no security personnel there by the time former President Mahama arrived at the premises. I went to find a place for former President Mahama to sit. He stood for about 30 minutes. Regional Minister came there with less than 6 military men without police. How can NPP be so wicked? They knew that former President Kuffour, President Nana Akufo Addo and Vice President Bawumia will not attend and hence decided not to provide security for former President Mahama” he said.
Yammin added that NPP government is taking security issues for granted saying the move may affect the peace the country is enjoying.
Joseph Yammin however called on Ghanaians to vote massively against NPP government.
He hinted that NDC party will provide its own security to protect party members if NPP government fails to provide security ahead of the 2020 elections.
“We are not going to sit there for our members to be intimidated. We will protect our members no matter the situation” he added.
