The Executive Secretary of policy think tank; Ghana Institute of Governance and Security (GIGS), David Agbey says the New Patriotic Party needs serious political scientists, serious sociologists; serious anthropologists
and even serious psychologists to be able to diagnose the problems of the party.
According to the governance consultant, “there are people in the party whose attitudes are untoward and require the advice of such crop of experts so they can behave like natural rational human beings”.
His comments come after moves by executives in the New Party to get the national chairman Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong removed from office.
The two have widely been accused of being responsible for events that led to the killing of the party’s Upper East regional chairman Adams Mahama triggering a vote of “no confidence” from some regional offices across the country.
However speaking on the Ultimate Breakfast Show, Mr Agbey emphasized that the party’s executives are riding on emotions and described their action as “politically immature”.
He told the host; Julius Caesar Anadem that, “there are problems within every organisation and there are solutions therein and they must look for the solutions.”
“The solution is not about sacking or impeaching Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyapong and who ever recommended that, has done a serious damage to the NPP,” he fumed.
He explained that the feud in the party has its roots in a certain deep seated sentiment in the party against the two beleaguered officers right from the year 2008 which need to be resolved by the elders and advisors in the New Patriotic Party.
He advised that the party shows leadership and refrained from passing derogatory statements and making unfounded allegations which he warned could worsen the already fragile plight of the political party.
