NPP race: Alan has nothing to lose – Ben Ephson

benNPP flagbearer aspirant Alan Kyeremanten, has nothing to lose if he goes ahead to contest the party’s Super delegates favorite Nana Akufo-Addo in the upcoming national delegates conference scheduled for October 18 to elect a flagbearer, pollster Ben Epson has said .

Ephson believes the former Trade minister will destroy his political ambitions if he were to chicken out of the race.

There are calls from some elders in the New Patriotic Party for the former Ghana ambassador to the US to opt out of the race following his abysmal performance in the party’s mini congress elections which reduced the number of flagbearer aspirants from seven to five.

He and three other people are contesting the former attorney general for the standard bearer slot for the 2016 general elections.

According to the Managing Editor of the Dispatch newspaper, Kyeremanten has a lot to fight for since the number of delegates who voted in the Super delegates congress are inconsequential compared to the number that will vote in the mega conference.

“The sample size of 740, once I know where they are coming from, I don’t think they should stop him” he told Radio Gold on Friday September 5.

He said the two-time flagbearer hopeful must be careful not to hurt his constituency and supporters within the biggest opposition party. “What has he got to lose? If he chickens out, that means you run away and one day if he decides to run for the flagbearership who will take him serious. Whether he goes or not, they will still have to hold the elections” he noted.
