The National Youth Organizer of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Sammy Awuku has assured the party’s branch, constituency as well as regional women organizers of support from the national office.
Addressing the women at the sidelines of the recent Ashanti Regional Delegates Conference in Kumasi, Mr Awuku hinted of the party’s resolve to channel resources to enable them work more efficiently.
According to him, the party recognized the tremendous role the women organizers played in the prelude to the 2016 general elections.
He, therefore, assured them of the necessary support and incentives to make their work more easier and effective as the party prepares ahead of the 2020 polls.
APPEAL:
Disclosing his intention to contest for the upcoming national organizer position publicly, Mr Awuku told the women the time has come for him to move a step higher in the party.
He stressed his determination to ensure the NPP becomes more attractive to the populace by strengthening its organizational capacity.
Mr Awuku, later in his address, asked the women organizers to endorse his candidature for the National Organizer Position in the upcoming national executive elections.
He promised to work more harder to consolidate the grounds the NPP covered in the 2016 polls so as to lengthen the period in which the party would govern the country.
RESPONSE:
Responding to the promise by the youth organizer, Nana Ama Ampomah, Ashanti Regional Women Organizer commended Mr Awuku for recognizing the role of the women in the party.
She welcomed the decision by the party to resource the women organizers, adding this will help them to effectively carry out their duties.
According to her, many of the branch and constituency organizers spent their own resources to ensure they prosecuted a purely grass-root campaign in 2016.
She pledged the support of the women in candidates who worked to ensure the party won last year’s elections.
