NPP’s popularity in Ashanti Region is waning – Brogya Genfi

Brogya-GenfiNational Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Suame, Brogya Genfi, has observed that the fortunes of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region are waning, pointing to last Saturday’s fund raising event by the party to buttress his argument.

He said the huge numbers that normally grace the NPP’s event anywhere and at anytime in the Ashanti Region was missing in Saturday’s event held at the Babayara Sports Stadium.

The event ground, Genfi noted, was not full to capacity as witnessed in previous events organized by the elephant family.

He attributed the declining fortunes of the NPP to the infighting that has characterized the Danquah-Busia-Dombo tradition in recent times coupled with the numerous projects President Mahama is executing in the region.

“The infighting in the NPP is hurting their popularity in the Ashanti Region. The numbers are declining. Not only that, the numerous projects that President Mahama is executing are also affecting the fortunes of the elephant party because the people in the region appreciate it very well”, he said in an interview on Accra based Okay FM Monday.
For instance, he said when see the market that is being constructed in Asewase, that person will have no difficulty in deciding to vote for President Mahama to retain him in power.

That project, coupled with others, Genfi argued, will win the NDC more votes to meet their target of one million in the Ashanti Region.
