The Northern Regional Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Alhaji Umar Yussif Alhassan has dispelled calls by a group calling itself NDC John for John Movement on delegates to vote all incumbent executives out of office.
The group’s Secretary, Salifu A. Baba earlier in an interview with Citi News described the NDC Northern Regional executives as “self-seeking politicians who do not deserve another term.”
He claimed that the Chief Sofo Azorka-led team’s inefficiency contributed to the seven seats the party lost to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the 2012 general elections.
In response, the regional NDC chief scribe described the group’s allegations as baseless.
Though he admitted the group is a recognized one in the region, he accused its leadership of side-stepping the regional executives and allowing themselves to be used by “unseen hands” for their parochial interest.
Alhaji Umar Yussif Alhassan urged the group to stop what he termed as the “pull-them-down syndrome” and canvass for more votes to retain the party in power in 2016.
He also advised the group to exhaust the party’s internal dispute resolution mechanisms to resolve their grievances.
