NSA Board chair gives to operation Cow leg team

The Board Chairman for the National Sports Authority (NSA), Mr Kwadow Baah Agyemang has presented boxes of energy drinks and bottled water to the joint military and Police team stationed at Agogo to monitor the activities of nomadic herdsmen in the area.

The gesture, according to Mr Agyemang is in appreciation of the sacrificial and selfless job by the joint team which is popularly referred as Operation Cow-leg.

Mr Baah Agyemang making the presentation to the team also commended them for their hard work and dedication to duty.

But for the team, Mr Baah Agyemang noted the recent disturbances between the marauding nomads and the indigenes of Asante-Akim would have escalated.

‘’I am donating these drinks and water just to show that some of us are in support of your work and dedication to ensuring that the entire Asante-Akim area becomes peaceful’’, Mr Baah-Agyemang noted.

CHARGE:
Speaking to the Ghanaian Observer Newspaper later, Mr Agyemang, a former Member of Parliament for Asante-Akim North urged the government to do all it can to enforce the court ruling the indigenes secured at a Kumasi High Court.

This, he mentioned is the only way peace can be restored in the community which has seen so much insecurity and deaths for almost two decades now.

Mr Baah wondered why the previous National Democratic Congress (NDC) government despite seeing the ruling the court gave in favor of the town folks disregarded it.

Nothing, the former MP noted will work except all the nomadic herdsmen popularly known as ‘fulani’ are evacuated from the area.

‘’My brother I can tell you that nothing will work in this area if authorities fail to enforce the ruling the Agogo people secured at the courts’’, Mr Baah-Agyemang posited passionately.

TEAM LEADER:
Chief Inspector Julius Kpebbeson, Head of the Command expressed profuse appreciation to the youthful NSA Chairman for the gesture.

He assured the former MP and Asante Akim residents of the resolve of the team to ensure calm and normalcy prevails in the area.

According to him, the team will do everything required of them to offer protection to the indigenes that are doing legitimate business including farming.

He asked for support from the public as well as prayers so as to enable them carry out the mandate given to it by the government.
