The Odotobri Rural Bank Limited at Jacobu in the Amansie Central in the Ashanti Region has committed GH¢30,000 to finance the refurbishment of the science laboratory of the Jacobu Senior High & Technical School.
The renovation of the science laboratory block, which was solely sponsored by the bank, included the procurement of modern science apparatus and equipment.
The gesture by the Odotobri Rural Bank was in response to a formal request by the school to the Board of Directors of the bank to assist it to give the science laboratory a facelift.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the bank, Mr Siaka Ahmed Baba, said at the inauguration that it was a matter of necessity for both management and board to respond to the call by the school authorities.
That, he said, was against the background that education was essential to national development.
He said the bank believed that an investment in such projects would make an impact on communities and future generations.
The CEO emphasised that the completion of the project was a proof of the bank’s commitment to the support of education and the creation of an enabling environment that would strengthen the human capacity of the country.
In 2013, the bank made a total commitment of about GH¢140, 000 in the area of corporate social responsibility, out of which majority went into the support of education.
