Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II has called on executives of the Royal Golf Club in Kumasi to embark on “operation find the Tiger”.
This operation, he explains will be towards finding the “budding Tiger Woods lurking in towns and villages in the country”.
The Asantehene who was speaking at the closing ceremony of an MTN Golf Tournament in his honor, also promised to support such an initiative.
He lamented the excessive focus on soccer to the detriment of other sports like Golf, Cricket, Tennis among others and calls on the state to pay attention to other sports as well especially the game of golf.
“Many momentous decisions in business and International relations have been hatched on the Golf Course”, Otumfuo explained and
also called for Golfers to support the businesses of sponsors because “sponsors need to see tangible evidence of greater value
in their sponsorship deals”.
