Otumfuo Raises Funds For KATH Renovation…Urges Corporate Ghana, Individuals To Support.
The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei-Tutu II has launched the Heal Komfo Anokye Project which is aimed at renovating entire blocks at the facility.
Speaking during the fundraiser event on Friday, the Asantehene said the current state of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital was a disgrace to the people living in the region.
He noted that the time was now ripe to raise the 10million dollars proposed to put the hospital in a position where the environment can help to heal patients.
“We can raise the 10million dollars by ourselves and i urge every one living in Ashanti and others elsewhere to contribute to fundraising drive”, the Asantehene stated.
Special Appeal:
The Asantehene charged Members of Parliament and Ministers of State as well as other well to do individuals as well as corporate Ghana to support the project.
He noted that the MPs from the region and others who hail from Ashanti must lead the fundraising effort since the hospital serves people from 12 regions in the country.
Otumfuo tasked households to organise themselves and pay at least 200gh to the account with the short code 776195# or call 0544-195525 to donate so that collectively they could put KATH into a position where people would be proud of.
“I urge you especially MPs and Ministers from Ashanti to lead efforts in raising these funds so that we can get Komfo Anokye into state which we could be proud and make sure you stop living your lives in Accra as if you don’t have a home ? in Ashanti”, the Asantehene charged.
Chief Executive Officer:
Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital reiterated the need for the fundraiser and thanked the Asantehene for leading the efforts.
He noted that the hospital was in a terrible state and needed the renovation badly.
The current environment at the wards and blocks, he stated was undesirable and unfit for proper care giving.
“We need to raise these funds to put Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in good light and ensure that rather than anything those who visit can have the best conditions to receive care”, Prof Addai-Mensah.
