It has emerged that some politicians resort to religious centres to call for bye-election in their respective constituencies by wishing incumbent Members of Parliament (MP) dead.
MP for Bantema Constituency Hon. Henry Kwabena Kokofu Saturday revealed that “the work of MPs are so dangerous that our opponents within and without consult spiritualists or contract criminals to take our lives so that bye-election will be conducted for them to assume our positions”
Adding his voice to the numerous calls by MPs demanding security protection to all the 270 legislators in their day-to-day activities, Hon. Kokofu revealed a lot of life threatening calls and messages he has received from anonymous persons.
“I have personally received calls and messages which are all life-threatening asking me to leave my job…One read “we will make sure you lose the party’s parliamentary ticket to the next parliament and surprisingly, I lost during our primaries ”.
The legislator stated it is high time the state provided them security without considering the financial implications.
