Outgoing NUGS President Pushes For Welfare Of Ghanaian Students At USA Conference
Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, outgoing President of the National Union of Ghana Students 🇬🇠(NUGS) has rallied governments across the world to prioritise the needs of students in their respective nations.
Speaking exclusively to this reporter on the sidelines of a four day student leaders conference in Washington DC in the United States of America 🇺🇸, Mr. Kyeremeh said it was better for governments to provide every needed support to students while they are in school and studying.
This, he noted, would culminate in the students coming out with good academic outcomes.
“It is important to provide students with opportunities to make their education count because the students you see today would become leaders of the world tomorrow”, the outgoing NUGS President stated.
Ghana’s Case:
Arguing Ghana’s case at the forum, Mr Kyeremeh said Ghanaian students were appreciative of the efforts of the current government.
He noted that most of the initiatives of the NPP government had helped to bring about some remarkable improvements in teaching and learning in Ghanaian schools.
The introduction of the Free SHS as well as the free Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) as well as the implementation of the Science, Technology and Engineering courses at the special STEM schools built for same have increased the desire of students to study and to do well academically.
“In Ghana 🇬🇠we have a good report to bring to the world’s attention but we are calling on all government’s to ensure that students are offered special incentives and support to become the best in their fields of study and to become transformational leaders in future”, Mr Kyeremeh stressed.

The Future We Want Global Initiative is a Young Leaders Forum where student leaders are selected across the globe to assemble and debate on policies governments are implementing in education.
This year’s forum held between the 7th and 10th of November brought together over 100 student leaders.
The delegates engaged in rigorous debates on critical issues facing people especially students across the world.
The Future We Want Global Initiative is an Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in New York and it seeks to bring together future generations of leaders from all corners of the globe to gain first hand experience in international relations.
It also seeks to produce high quality resolutions aimed at bringing about a “Future We Want” and submit these resolutions to relevant UN agencies for consideration and youth development.
