Papa Yaw crushes Oscar Anane to become Asokwa NPP Secretary

Papa Yaw Asare-Bediako John, last Saturday won the Asokwa New Patriotic Party’s constituency elections to become the branch’s chief scribe.

Polling a whopping 402 votes, the first timer aspirant swept aside Oscar Anane, his main challenger in a fiercely contested election.

Before polls commenced at the Asokwa Youth center, scores of supporters of both aspirants were seen vigorously campaigning for either of the two.

Leaving no stone unturned both campaign teams of the aspirants used the space available on the various social media outlets to reach delegates one by one as they coined interesting messages to woo the undecided.

TENSION:
With the mention of the delegates by polling stations, the Electoral Commission as well as the regional party representatives ensured a smooth process throughout the voting period.

However, this smooth process gave way to a highly charged atmosphere moments before polls ended some few minutes to 4pm.

The visibly tensed candidates as well their campaign teams at the hall were seen grouping into three’s and four’s as they tried last minute lobbying.

Wearing a white outfit, Papa Yaw Asare-Bediako was intermittently seen on his phone either texting or calling a friend to drown some of the tension away.

Oscar Anane, a veteran sports presenter and a mathematics tutor was seen chatting with friends and embracing some of the delegates who called his name out at the hall.

MESSAGE:
Speaking to this reporter moments after he was announced as winner of the polls in the constituency secretary position, an elated Papa Yaw pledged his commitment to fulfill all promises he had made to the delegates prior before the polls.

According to him, there was no way to turn back on the people of Asokwa after they had shown such unwavering support.

This support, he noted amidst a teary eye had ensured his landslide victory, adding he will own up to his words to build a vibrant and a solid front in Asokwa.

Flanked by his father who is the outgoing Asokwa NPP Chairman, the newly elected secretary pledged to work to ensure that the good people of Asokwa gets what they deserve.
