Peace Hyde comes to you this week with another inspirational piece. Enjoy below…
Hi faith builders and welcome to this week’s ‘PIECE OF PEACE’. If this is your first time reading, I would like to thank you for taking the time to read a little bit of my thoughts on things that inspire and motivate me. I hope you find something in today’s post that helps you overcome whatever situation you are going through.
Today I would like to share on the topic of ‘I AM NOT MY SITUATION!’
Trauma is any situation that challenges an individual’s view of the world as a just, safe and predictable place. It shakes the foundation of whatever wall of security we have built for ourselves. It can be very difficult to overcome because most often than not, it happens without any just cause or provocation. Our mind struggles to accept the negative situation that has just happened and we go through a denial phase.
The difficulty in overcoming trauma lies in the fact that the mind is simply not able to move past the hurt or the pain our experiences have caused. It is important to remember however that, Sometimes you have to forget what’s gone, appreciate what still remains and look forward to what’s happening next.
Suffering is essentially life’s gift. It brings knowledge, compassion, strength and understanding. When we are brought to our knees, we develop a closer relationship with God. Through the trust we develop with that relationship, there are no challenges we cannot face or overcome.
When something bad happens you have three choices. You can either let it define you. Let it destroy you, or you can let it strengthen you.
Choosing to let it define you means that you live each day with the bitterness and hurt of that traumatic situation. It means that you trade the value that God has given you for the pain and hurt that you are going through.
It means you see yourself less than the perfect, beautiful creation that God has made. Choosing to let it destroy you means that you were not ready for the next season of greatness that was about to come after overcoming the pain and the hurt.
Choose to let it strengthen you because the greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it. The only place where your dream becomes impossible is in your own thinking. You will never get over it, but you’ll get to the point where it doesn’t bother you so much anymore.
It really doesn’t matter how tough we are, trauma always leaves a scar. It follows us home, it changes our lives, trauma messes everybody up, but maybe that’s the point. All the pain and the fear. Maybe going through all of that is what keeps us moving forward.
It’s what pushes us. Maybe we have to get a little messed up before we can step up. If you are dealing with any traumatic situation today, remember, you choose how the rest of the story goes.
No one is promising it will be easy, but you can survive. You are alive today for a reason and that reason is so important to the rest of the world.
DO NOT GIVE IN OR GIVE UP. YOU ARE SPECIAL TO THE WORLD.
Remember, be yourself because everyone else is taken.
