The Saltpond Police Command has arrested the Head Pastor of the Holy Spirit Church at Mankessim, Kwadwo Abraham, popularly known as Pastor Abraham, for allegedly burning a 9-year-old boy’s penis and some parts of his body.
Narrating the story to Adom News, the father of the boy, Mr. Stephen Nyame said the 41-year-old pastor alleged that his son had been possessed by evil spirits and needed to be delivered.
Mr. Nyame said the ‘pastor’ covered the boy with a scalding hot, wet cloth three times on various parts of his body including his chest and penis in what he said was his way of driving away the evil spirits. The application of the hot cloth, however, raised blisters in the affected parts.
Observing the results of his action, the ‘pastor’ warned the parents not to disclose what they had seen or be cursed with the spirits afflicting the boy and other spirits.
Pastor Abraham then absconded.
“After some days, I realised that my son was suffering so I reported the case to the Mankessim Police Command and the police later arrested him,” Mr. Nyame stated.
The District Police Commander of Saltpond, DSP David Ashong, who confirmed the arrest to Adom News, stated that Pastor Kwadwo Abraham was arrested on Friday 9, 2014.
DSP Ashong says the case has been handed over to the Cape Coast office of the Domestic Violence and Victims’ Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Ghana Police Service for investigations whiles the pastor is in the custody of the police to assist in investigations.
Meanwhile, due to financial constraints, Mr. Nyame has not been able to send his 9-year-old son to the Saltpond Government Hospital, as recommended by the police.
