A political science lecturer at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST); Dr. Amakye Boateng has scored the Electoral Commission of Ghana 90-95 percent marks for the smooth and successful conduct of the just ended Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
He commended the commission for their sterling performance in the conduct of the 2020 presidential elections. This has produced a winner and we must commend them, and not attack them.
Speaking on Oyerepa 100.7 FM breakfast show on Thursday the morning after the declaration of the 2020 presidential elections, Dr. Amakye said, this is the freest, fairest, and most credible electoral process the country has witnessed.
He said though there were some minor challenges on the part of the EC officials at some polling centers, it had no bearing on the exercise. A classic example was the EC official who was caught at one of the polling stations in the Awutu Senya West constituency tearing off some candidates on the presidential ballot paper.
According to him, the Electoral Commission put a credible system in place to avert any electoral fraud hence making it difficult for any political party to alter the process.
